Parts of this trail will be closed for culvert replacements from August 11, 2020 till August 25, 2020. Exact dates depend on the weather, of course.
A culvert you travel over toward the Prospect Station Trailhead will be replaced. The culvert is a box culvert with a roof made of railroad track that has rusted over the years to the point where it needs to be replaced now.
A culvert about 1/4 mile north of Wolebon Road (just past the farm road) has damage and will be replaced. While it is presently safe for trail users, one end of the culvert has collapsed and must be replaced. Trees will be cleared from above the culvert, the railbed will be removed and the dirt/gravel will be stored on the trail, the old culvert will be removed and a new culvert (pipe) will be installed. Then the dirt/gravel will be replaced.
We are sorry for any inconvenience, but maintenance must happen on this 100+ year old rail-trail. We’re sure you will be happy with the results.
