3rd Saturday Hikes
Please join us for our third Saturday hike on October 20 at 9:30 am at the Tom’s Point Trail in Stow, NY on Stow Ferry Rd off NY Rte 394. The parking area is located behind Hogan’s Hut Gas Station and Convenience store just north of I-86 Exit 8. The trail is a State of New York’s DEC Wildlife Management Area.
This co-sponsored hike with the Chautauqua County Hiking Club will have two segments. We will traverse the Tom’s Point trail for just under one mile leading to a wooded shore on Chautauqua Lake. The round trip hike will last about one hour. Upon return to the parking area, we will hike 1/3 of a mile down Stow Ferry Rd to the Ferry Dock and return.
The Tom’s Point Trail features wetlands, farm country, woodlands and scenic views of Chautauqua Lake and the opposite shore. The Stow Ferry is under repair in Mayville but we will review the history of ferry which dates to 1811. The dock area features a replica Light House and scenic viewing area. The total time for the hike and Ferry segment will be approximately two hours. Please join us!
